56 Days Book Review

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog! Today I have another book review, and I think this one is really interesting. This is the first book I’ve read that mentioned COVID-19. I don’t know if its too soon for some of you, but this book wasn’t over the top on the whole virus thing. However, this is a thriller about how two people go into quarantine together after only knowing each other for a month, and one of them turns up dead. Now, I know this sounds a little kooky, but I swear its actually really good. So, let’s get right into it.

Like I said this book is about two people who barely know each other then lockdown hits and they either have to end their new romance or…. move in together. They pick the latter. This story has so many twists and turns its unreal. Every time I thought I knew what was going on something happened that changed the whole game. The beginning was kind of slow, but honestly not for very long. Its so worth it to keep reading and finishing the book.

I love an unreliable narrator, but I’ve never read a book that had two! I think that was the best part of the book. You couldn’t trust wither of the main characters. It all comes full circle at the end. And you spend the whole book trying to figure out who these people are, what they did in their pasts, what are they haunted by?

I have to admit reading about COVID was kind of weird. Its not that far past us yet that it feels like a distant memory, but this book made it seem like it was. The author captured it really well though. This book takes place in Dublin at the very start of the pandemic. Hence why the main characters have to basically live together in order to continue their romance. The writing about the virus didn’t overpower the book if that makes sense. I didn’t feel like it was all about the COVID situation.

The other important thing to note is that this book skips around a lot. It jumps from present day to the past but to multiple different points in the past. Personally, I didn’t find it confusing, it wasn’t hard to keep together what was going on. You also get bits and pieces from the narrators about what their actual motives are.

I really enjoyed this book! It was actually my July book of the month, and I am very happy with my decision. I would give this book a 3/5, and I would definitely recommend it!

Alright folks, thanks for reading! I know this was short, but I wanted to at least write something about it! Come back next week for another post!
